__Welcome__
Note: 11 April 2004 -- The 'Updates' page has finally been activated. Please check there for all authors who have been updated from now on. And yes, I know, it's a miracle ;-) sorry about the delay--Gail
Welcome to RIPOSTE, the new 'Mirror' archive for the Watchergirls Yahoo Group, made specifically for the use and benefit of the members of that group. We hope you will enjoy this showcase of the writing talent that has passed through Watchergirls since it was born in April 1999.
What is Watchergirls? It's a mailing list for fans of the two Watchers from the Buffyverse, Rupert Giles and Wesley Wyndham-Pryce. It was born in April 1999, the brainchild of Brenda Cunningham AKA Jae Kayelle, and K.V. 'Kim' Wylie. One or both of these lovely ladies owned and moderated Watchergirls until early 2001 when the current owner, Gail Christison, took over.
At this point I would like to pay tribute to Greyangel, without whom this project would not have ever happened, for her months and months of crazy-making work designing and putting this site together, and Karesia, without whose generous help it would not be continuing, since Grey has since moved on to predominantly Real Life projects and as far away from Riposte as she can get. :-) I would also like to thank Gylzgirl for putting the idea in my head, Gileswench, Karen, Liz and Kelly for their support at various times, when it was needed most :-) I hope I haven't forgotten anyone.
What is Riposte? It is not an open archive. The purpose of Riposte is to preserve all of the fan fiction found in the Watchergirls archive to prevent it being lost should Yahoo suddenly decide to bring the allocated archive space for old Yahoo groups into line with the new ones. Therefore it will only contain stories that have been posted to the Watchergirls list.
You will find everything, from postcard fic to epic stories, and some that are not finished; even some that no longer fall within the Watchergirls guidelines. If the fiction was ever posted on Watchergirls, it will be here.
Hopefully you will have a lot of fun rediscovering classic fiction of old; finding things you thought you'd never see again, or work by authors you like that you've never read before.
You will find on the author's pages, wherever possible, the basic headers for the stories as they were posted to Watchergirls, so please be aware that some email addresses and URLs referred to in these may be rather out of date now.
For the benefit of all, those stories which fall outside the current Watchergirls guidelines have been marked with a red NC-21 rating, as has any other extremely graphic material. Also, other archivists please remember that you *must* ask the authors before you archive any of the material on this site. Where possible we have endeavoured to update email addresses, even on the oldest stories, so that feedback may be sent, and archivists may seek permission from the authors before archiving their work elsewhere.
For those under the age of 18, please either turn back now or use the ratings on the fiction to avoid those which are unsuitable.
