Wesley stood his ground, frowning down at Cordelia's
smiling face.

"I don't know about this, Cordelia. We've tried it a
hundred times, and the outcome is always the same."

"Trust me, Wes. This time will be different. I have a
feeling you're gonna get it this time." Cordy wore her
most trustworthy, innocent face.

Angel sat on the brick wall, shaking his head sadly.
Wes was just too trusting. It always ended the same
way. Still, Wesley's innocent trust in all humanity
was part of what made him so loveable.

"C'mon, Wesley, I haven't got all day. I promise,
you'll get it this time."

"Okay." Wesley was excited, just thinking about
finally finishing the task he had started so long ago.
He walked back to a spot about 15 feet away, stretched
his muscles one more time, and took off running,
straight for Cordelia.

*kick*...AAAUUUUGGGGHHHHH"...*WHUMP*

Wesley lay flat on his back, unable to move. Cordelia
stood over him, holding the object of his desire, in
her hands.

"Cordelia, you promised you weren't going to pull it
away at the last moment this time," Wes moaned.

Cordy beamed at him, very pleased with herself. "Yeah,
I thought you were gonna get to kick that football
this time, for sure. Oh well, there's always next
time."
