__April Fools__
By Kath
Cordelia giggled as she whispered softly into Gunn's ear. "Are you
ready, Charles?"
The tall young man straightened up, and look uneasily around the office,
before a huge grin split his face. "Yeah, let's do it." He pulled the
beautiful brunette into his arms, and was just placing his lips to hers
when the sound of the front door opening rudely interrupted them.
"Oh, uh, excuse me." Wesley's expression vacillated between shock,
horror and amazement. He turned to his former employer, who was
hovering behind him in the doorway, waiting for the watcher to get out
of the way. "It appears we've interrupted something, Angel."
Cordy and Gunn, pulled apart, looking suitably guilty. "We're sorry. We
never meant for you to find out this way," the girl tried to explain, as she
rested one hand gently on Wesley's arm. Gunn looked like he might
laugh out loud, but managed to turn it into a cough, behind his hand.
Wesley's eyebrows lifted, as he regarded Cordelia thoughtfully, before
turning his attention once more to the vampire, who stepped forward,
until he stood directly behind his associate.
Angel leaned in to whisper in Wesley's ear, the younger man nodding
and smiling in agreement. "It's okay, guys." The vampire appeared
relieved. "I'm glad we're getting things out in the open like this.
There's something Wesley and I have been wanting to tell you." With
that, his arms slid around the demon hunter's slim waist.
Gunn's mouth fell open. "No way!" Wesley turned in Angel's arms until
he was flush up against the vampire's broad chest, gazing into his dark
brown eyes.
"I'm afraid it's true, Charles. We didn't want to disrupt the office, so we
kept it quiet, but now that we know you and Cordelia are together too --
" The rest of his words were cut off by Angel's deep kiss.
"Is this where we yell 'April Fools'?" Gunn muttered to his counterpart,
under his breath. Cordelia, rendered completely speechless, could only
shrug helplessly. They continued to gape at the smooching men a
moment longer, then Charles grabbed the seer by the arm, dragging her
towards the door. "C'mon, let's get out of here and let these two suck
face in private."
Upon hearing the door slam behind their coworkers, Angel broke away,
grinning wickedly into Wesley's face. "Guess we got 'em, huh Wes."
"Uh huh," was the distracted response. Wesley ran the palm of his right
hand along Angel's cheek, while his left one maintained a firm grip on
the vampire's hipbone.
"Wes? Uh, joke's over. They're gone." He felt himself being pulled into the swirling grey pools of the watcher's eyes, and he was beginning to think there was far too much clothing separating the two of them.
"Right...no more joking." No sooner had the whisper escaped the
Englishman's lips than he was pressing them urgently to the cool ones
opposite him. This time, both men leaned into each other, their hands
yanking at buttons and cloth, only Wesley's eventual need to breath
pulling them apart again.
"Are you sure about this, Wes?" Wesley nodded, and grinned at him.
"Are you?" Angel grinned back, and kissed him on the tip of his
nose. "Well then, I guess the joke is on us."
